Irvine
is on Scotland's West Coast, 25 miles south of Glasgow and 10 miles north
of Prestwick Airport, and is only 90 minutes drive from Edinburgh. Irvine
is served by a half-hourly train service from Ayr or Glasgow, and the
Burns Club is within walking or taxi distance of the station.
Irvine is only a thirty-minute journey
from Burns Cottage and the Burns National Heritage Park at Alloway, so
you can easily include us in an Ayrshire tour. Also in Irvine, just ten
minutes' walk away, is the Heckling Shed where Burns worked and the house
where he stayed in 1781. Those interested in ships may also wish to make
time for the Scottish Maritime Museum at Irvine harbour.
