| Having an Alex-free house seems very strange - even although he was absolutely no bother to have as a guest. Our girls have come home this weekend to fill the gap he left this week! The last two weeks has been absolutely marvellous for everyone involved and for our whole school community. My hope is that the visit of our Malawian friends will have a lasting impact on our pupils and that they will appreciate just how much they learned from the visit - at least as much as the Malawian group learned from being here.

| We wish our Malawian friends a safe journey home. We hope that they had as much fun as we did. The past 2 weeks has been an education for us all. We would like to thank Bernadette for all that she has done over past 4 years, keep up the good work! We thank Eric and staff for their efforts in preparing and contributing to the success of this visit. We extend a special thank you to the other host families for their friendship and support throughout. Finally, we extend a warm thanks to our Malawian guests who freely gave so much to all of us.

| Hello everyone, I have come with bad news and good news. The good news is that tomorrow we are going back to Malawi to see our families and friends. It has been a pleasure for us to be here in Scotland, we have indeed learned much of their culture and experienced the weather. Many thanks to the people of Scotland especially St.Michael's Academy for being with us all of the time. In many ways they have helped St.Peter's and at the same time they have developed Malawi. I really appreciate their kindness. The bad news is that we are leaving Scotland and leaving friends who would really have loved us to stay here. The visit of two weeks wasn't enough to them and to us. But, even though we will not forget what ever they have done for us many thanks go to Bernadette, Eric Allen and the host families for being with us and caring for us. To the Malawians I beg you to give us prayers so that we shall be welcomed back.

| Alexander is spending the weekend with his children in Edinburgh. He has not seen them for quite some time and I know he is very pleased to be able to get the chance while he is here. He is also probably happy that he is not getting dragged half way across Scotland in the cold this weekend!

| Hello to everyone at St Peter's. It has been wonderful having Mr Ziba, Mrs Nhana. Mercy, Winnie, Dennis and Maxwell over to visit us. I hope they are having as good a time in Scotland as we had last year in Malawi. Today they will have wakened up to a carpet of snow - even the airports are closed and the police are advising people not to travel unless it is really necessary. Do not worry they will be able to travel back to the warmth of Africa by Wednesday! It has been exceptionally cold for them here - at the football match last week Dennis was so wrapped up we could only see his eyes peeping between hat and scarf, and Mrs Nhana has taken to wearing two coats on some occassions! Please forgive me for not writing to you all - I will someday soon. I hope Bishop is enjoying his science lab and regards to Daphne, Clements, Bonadventure, Godfrey and all the rest of the staff. I have such wonderful memories of our visit to Malawi and I think of you all often. Sheila Taylor

| I am very happy and enjoying my visit here because I have seen and done many things I have never seen or done before. When we arrived here the people welcomed us very well. On Friday we went to visit Blantyre. It was a historical day because we saw where Dr David Livingstone came from and where he lived. On Saturday we went to watch a football match between Kilmarnock and another team (Dunfermline), it was a nice game but I was frozen and I didn;t enjoy it as much as I could because of the cold! On Sunday we went to Loch Lomond. On Monday and Tuesday we were in classes. The day I have enjoyed most was when we went to Edinburgh where we met the First Prime Minister. This was on Wednesday 8th March. The next day we went to a 2 Primary schools. We were very excited because the resources they were using were like in our universities. One student asked me a question which was very funny. She asked me if I change clothes!! I was happy to be asked this question because I knew that the little children were very interested in us. I also want to thank my host family for the wonderful things they have done for me. I have tasted many Scottish foods and I enjoyed. One of the real Scottish food I tasted was haggis. I am really enjoying my visit. Thanks you. Mercy.

| We have visited many schools this week and the pupils were eager to ask questions about Malawi. They very much enjoyed our singing and dancing for them. The schools have been very hospitable towards us. They wish to help our school in Malawi. We even visited another St. Peter's school where they presented us with hats bearing the name St. Peter's. It is very surprising to us to hear that St. Michael's and St. Andrew's, which are bigger than our universities, are to be demolished next year. They say the buildings are old but to us they are very new and we wish that we could ship them to Malawi.
On Tuesday I got lost and missed the assembly! On Wednesday we went on a trip to Edinburgh and we travelled on nice trains and on the way we passed through tunnels which made it so dark outside that we were scared. At the end of the journey it was exciting. Yesterday I visited the Imax centre and Science centre. We saw a lot of things and heard about the Scottish people who invented those things. I was almost lost because my friends has left me while reading about those things. I found them down stairs. Later we went to the cinema where it was dark and scary at first. Later when we saw the pictures on the screen it seemed that all of us had entered the screen and were traveling inside the screen. At times I had to close my eyes as it seemed we were going to crash and I felt that we were travelling to heaven. In the end I realised that it was just a film. Afterwards Bernadette took me to visit people who had been in Malawi. Today we went shopping with Mrs. McFadden and Bernadette. They are many things to see here and many things in the shops. We can't manage to buy them as they cost thousands of Malawi Kwacha. All in all I'm living very well in Miss. McFadden's house. It is warm and I sleep in a very nice big bed. She has a nice flat here. She has a bath which his snow white and due to a stupid mistake I had a fall in it and I injured my knee. It is not too bad as I can still walk with it. On Thursday my nephew John Luanda came to collect me to visit home and daughters in Bothwell. On the way back we got lost and came home around 12.35am. I'm sorry I've not posted many times as we come back late and I'm very tired. All I can do is eat and then go to sleep. Greetings to everybody especially Mr. Nhlane. We are counting down the days until we return. It is going very fast.

| We reached Glasgow safely and our hosts recieved us very warmly. My stay in Scotland has been very exciting indeed. My host is feeding me well and taking me to see different places. We have rounded Glasgow's tall buildings and we went to Blantyre to Dr. David Livingston's birth place. On the same day we travelled on an open bus to sight see, I can not say all things here because there is plenty to talk about. At night there was ceilidh (a Scottish dance)and many people came. It was marvellous and we joined in the dances. Mercy and Winnie were quick to grasp the steps. On Saturday afternoon we went to a football match which was between Kilmarnock and Dunfermline,it was a nice game but the day was so cold that I did not enjoy the game. We were supporting former team which won by a goal to nil. On Sunday we went to church in Dalry where my host, Bernadette and her family prays. It's a nice church and about 200 people were there. They were very friendly to us and they gave me a chance to speak, don't you think that was an honour? After prayers there was a get together tea with snacks where I met many of her family members and friends.

| Sorry for the delay, we had a few problems so this is the first entry. We had an enjoyable flight and arrived safely in Glasgow. The sun was shinning but there was no heat. On Thursday we visited St. Michael's and a local primary school. At night we went bowling and I won a game. On Friday we went to the David Livingston Centre in Blantyre to see David Livingstons house. While we were there it snowed and I was very happy to see the snow. At night we went to a Scottish Ceilidh. It was very enjoyable and it was very fun learning the scottish dances and Kevin learned how to dance like a Malawian. On Saturday we went to watch a Kilmarnock football game. The football match was good but it was very cold! On Saturday night we went to a party at Louise and Winnie's house. We had a lot of fun and met a lot of people. Sunday started off with mass at St. Paladius in Dalry. After this we went to Loch Lommond where we had fun again. We saw two silly boys jumping into the water which was very cold! Today I sat in on classes at St.Michael's. The classes were good, I attended different classes like Home Economics where I made pancakes. I also went to French, Technology, Maths and Art classes. They were all very enjoyable.

| After Mass today, the whole group travelled in cars to the largest loch (lake) in the UK, Loch Lomond. The weather was dry and sunny but quite cold. Mr Ziba loved the beautiful scenery - he said that anyone who visits the UK but doesn't come to Scotland will have nothing to talk about! However, the fresh air (and the wine at dinner this evening) have combined to make him very sleepy and he has gone to bed for a rest!

Since Mercy's arrival on Wednesday morning they have been to school, played bowling, been to a football match, attended the ceilidh are currently out meeting new friends. Mercy has settled in very well and is adapting well to the colder weather. Both Mercy and Louise will post a note tomorrow evening.

| Another very cold day - but we received a very warm welcome from Kilmarnock Football Club who showed us round the stadium. We had our photograph taken with two of the players and the match programme contained an article about our visit. And best of all, Kilmarnock won the match, beating Dunfermline 1 - 0. Now it is time to get warmed up!

| The Ceilidh night at St Michael's was a huge success. The Malawian visitors enjoyed themselves thoroughly - I learned to dance a Scottish dance called the "Dashing White Sergeant". Earlier on Friday we visited the David Livingstone Centre - it was a great eye-opener what David Livingston did for Malawi and Africa as a whole. When we came outside it was snowing - the first time we have ever seen snow falling!

| We have had a very busy day and Mr Ziba has gone to bed because he is very tired! We visited St Michael's Academy, St Bridget's Primary School, St Andrew's Academy and played 10-pin bowling for over 2 hours this evening. No wonder he is sleeping! The temperature this morning when we got up was -8 degrees celsius - Mr Ziba helped to scrape the ice off the windows of my car. During the day it was beautiful - sunny all the time but the temperature never rose above 6 degrees.

| Just over 24 hours now until our visitors arrive and everyone involved is getting very excited - and a little bit nervous. Will it be too cold for them? Will they like their hosts? Will they enjoy the food? What if they are homesick? For the answers to these - and many other questions - watch this space!
